摘要:

The newly established Peleg Laboratory of metabolism and epigenetics in aging in the FBN Leibniz institute in Rostock (Germany) and the Qingdao University in China is now recruiting postdoctoral fellow, PhD and masters students to join our team. Substantial funding supports the lab and the lab is now seeking to recruit enthusiastic scientists interested in the field of ageing research.

We are focused on understanding the molecular changes that occur during early aging that determine healthy lifespan. Our lab combines model organism work (mice and flies) with various techniques, including mass spectrometry, MALDI-imaging, molecular biochemistry, and behavioral testing. In close collaboration with other labs, we will extend our research to include human studies. We are currently exploring novel modeling of aging to discover innovative therapy avenues, with the goal of preventing fitness decline and cognitive impairment. We welcome applications from excellent, highly motivated candidates who enjoy collaborating with fellow scientists to advance our understanding of the molecular mechanisms of aging.

Current applicants are expected to work in Rostock, Germany.

We are currently recruiting Post doc and PhD/Masters student to develop projects focused on:

1. The impact of the metabolic-epigenetic axis in modulating Drosophila healthspan and lifespan.

and

2. The impact of altered metabolic-epigenetic connectivity during age-associated memory impairment in mice.

Essential requirements for PhD student:

1. Must hold or will shortly receive a master’s degree in Biology, Medicine, or a relevant Biological/Biochemical discipline

2. Able to work independently

3. Passionate about scientific integrity

4. Motivated to study aging

Desired assets
1. Previous experience in biochemistry (CRISPR, Cas9/13, cell culture, ChIP), mass spectrometry, or behavioral experimentation

2. Experience with basic computer programming

3. Experience with cell culture

The position is funded for an initial 3-year contract 65% TVL-E13. A successful applicant will be supported by the PI in their grant applications and career development opportunities are encouraged. This includes additional funding for bridging the PhD- postdoc transition phase.

Essential requirements for post doc (Must be under the age of 35):

1. Must hold or will shortly receive a PhD or MD degree in Biology, Medicine, or a relevant Biological/Biochemical discipline.

2. Published at least one first author publication

3. Have previously supervised undergraduate students

4. Able to work independently

5. Passionate about scientific integrity

6. Motivated to study aging

Desired assets

1. Previous experience in biochemistry (RNAseq, CRISPR, Cas9/13, cell culture, ChIP), or behavioral experimentation

2. Experience with mass spectrometry work.

3. Experience with basic computer programming (Relevant for one position)

4. Experience with cell culture (Relevant for one position)

5. Experience with scientific writing

The position is funded for an initial 2 -year contract by a stipend provided by Qingdao University (Salary equivalent to 100% TVL-E13 in Germany). A successful applicant will be supported by the PI in their grant applications and career development opportunities are encouraged. Current applicants are expected to work in Rostock, Germany. Applications are welcome from all nationalities – visa information can be further discussed.
