Job Description
A postdoctoral fellowship position is available immediately in the Department of Melanoma Medical Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. The focus of our lab is dissecting the role of host factors on anti-tumor immunity and melanoma biology. Candidates will work with a multidisciplinary research team involving clinicians, biologists, epidemiologists, and bioinformaticians and under the direct supervision of Dr. Jennifer McQuade, Assistant Professor, and Dr. Patrick Hwu, Professor and Vice President-elect of the Society for Immunotherapy for Cancer.This position will include focused studies on the role of diet, obesity, and gender on the anti-tumor immune response. Unique resources include one of the largest repositories of annotated melanoma biospecimens in the world, resources such as patient-derived tumor cell lines with matched autologous tumor infiltrating lymphocytes, and metabolic phenotyping systems. The ideal candidate will be proficient in flow cytometry and basic immunology and molecular biology techniques (cell culture, assessment of growth inhibition and apoptosis, western blotting, immunohistochemistry, DNA/RNA/protein isolation). Candidates should be enthusiastic about collaborative and interdisciplinary research, as well as self-motivated and independent.
