摘要:

Roche Pharma Research and Early Development (pRED) invites applications for an exciting two-year postdoctoral position in research and development and application of Deep Learning methods on Electronic Health Record Data (EHR) from Flatiron Health. In this position, the postdoctoral candidate will work on a collaborative research project between pRED at the Roche Innovation Centre Munich and Prof. Fabian Theis (Director of the Institute of Computational Biology at the Helmholtz Zentrum München and Chair for "Mathematical Modeling of Biological Systems" at the Department of Mathematics of the TU Munich).

A major source of Real World Data is electronic health records (EHR). Roche has recently acquired Flatiron Health and thus access to a rich data source of semi manually curated EHR data for oncology patients. Secondary use of EHRs promise to advance clinical research and better inform clinical decision making. However, challenges regarding the use of EHR data are its high-dimensionality, noise, heterogeneity, sparseness, incompleteness, random errors and system biases.

The Position:

The successful candidate will develop a novel representation of Flatiron patients based on all available demographic and clinical features, using deep learning technologies for feature extraction and selection. The methodology shall be extended and refined to address still existing shortcomings and be applied to evaluate its potential to answer relevant clinical questions such as prediction of general health, onset of rare and common diseases, progression of these diseases and their responsiveness to medication and treatment.

You will utilize expertise in bioinformatics, biostatistics, deep learning and machine learning and will be responsible to

Collaborate and coordinate with academic and industrial mentors to develop algorithms for novel representation of Flatiron patients based on all available demographic and clinical features

Systematically explore and establish deep/machine learning techniques for analysis of Flatiron EHR data

Prototype, implement, test and publish the developed algorithms/tools

Implement and publish method improvements

Interface with data scientists, clinical scientists and oncologists to apply the novel patient representation for pRED relevant scientific use cases

Present and publish at international conferences and in journals

Who you are

You hold a PhD in biostatistics, bioinformatics, physics, informatics or other related and relevant field

You have excellent programming skills and are fluent in at least one of the following languages: R, Python

You have in depth knowledge in the fields of deep learning, machine learning and statistical modelling

You have a solid background in databases, SQL, and are confident in aggregating, manipulating and pivoting data tables

You are passionate about data visualization and presenting results in a concise and clear way
