Job Description
Our ultimate goal is to eliminate cancer by making it predictable and trackable. A comprehensive understanding, accurate prediction and monitoring of cancer cell response to therapeutic interventions is key to the cure, which is also the driving force of our research focus. Our primary research focus areas are: 1) to develop innovative bioinformatics approaches to identify genomic determinants of tumor resistance and sensitivity to chemo- and immuno- therapies; 2) to build prediction models to estimate the likelihood of clinical benefit and toxicity from anticancer therapies by multi-dimensional integration of genomic data and clinical features, and to help develop a rational combination therapies to overcome intrinsic or acquired resistance; 3) to develop a robust computational framework to identify, and more importantly, to be able to automatically and accurately track and report the genomic changes and clonal evolution, as well as immune response over time in serial follow-up samples. The postdoctoral fellow will work on the datasets generated by the Cancer Moon Shot platform. The postdoctoral fellow will have great opportunities to collaborate with diverse groups of physicians and computational biologists at MDACC and the Texas Medical Center.Requirements:
Individuals with a PhD degree in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, genome science or a related field are encouraged to apply. A strong computational background, proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., R, Python, Perl, C++, Java) and knowledge of statistics are required. Training experience in machine learning and deep learning, experience working in high computing cluster environment, experience working with TCGA, ICGC, COSMIC, 1000 Genomes, ENCODE, GTEx, or ExAC, or other large-scale NGS data analysis is highly preferred. A good understanding of cancer biology, cell signaling pathways, or drug response mechanisms is also preferred. Proven track record of publications, good spoken and written communication skills are required.
Contact: Interested applicants should send a cover letter describing your past research experience/skills and future research interests/plans, a curriculum vitae and the contact information of at least three references to Dr. Wang (Lwang22@mdanderson.org) with the subject line ‘Postdoc-Application - Your Name’.
Salary & Benefit: Salaries are commensurate with the NIH payscale) and postdoctoral fellows (and family) are provided with a comprehensive benefits package including health/dental insurance and retirement plans (https://www.mdanderson.org/about-md-anderson/careers/benefits.html)
