　　Postdoctoral Fellowship – Molecular Genetics: Dallas, TX, United States

 

　　A postdoctoral research opportunity is available to a candidate with an interest in the genomics and mechanisms of pediatric disease. The position is available is in the laboratory of Drs. Carol Wise and Jonathan Rios, within the division of Molecular Genetics. Research in the Wise/Rios laboratory (https://scottishritehospital.org/research-and-education/musculoskeletal-research) centers on identifying and understanding the genetic determinants of pediatric musculoskeletal diseases, applying multiple genomics, bioinformatics, and molecular biology approaches to an extensive bio-repository of biologic samples. A primary interest in our laboratory is defining the pathogenesis of idiopathic scoliosis, the most common musculoskeletal disorder of childhood. We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher to lead a P01-funded project that will define the molecular mechanisms involved in idiopathic scoliosis, using multiple genomics approaches. This project is one part of a multi-disciplinary, multi-site collaboration with clinical experts, genomics, and developmental biology experts. The project presents opportunities for frequent multi-disciplinary interactions with collaborators at other major research institutions. The postdoctoral researcher in this position will also receive support from collaborators, state-of-the-art core facilities, and other resources available at nearby University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas, TX.

 

　　Requirements:

 

　　Motivated candidates who have completed a PhD in a field related to genomics of human disease and/or hypothesis-driven molecular biology research are encouraged to apply. Experience with next-generation genomic methods is highly preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to interact frequently and enthusiastically with collaborators in the research program and to contribute intellectually to other research efforts in the lab.
