The Oxford Vaccine Group (OVG) are seeking enthusiastic and driven Research Assistants to join the Clinical Trials Team. OVG conducts world-leading research into creating new and optimising existing vaccines for children and adults. Our research has recently led to the much-anticipated introduction of the Meningitis B vaccine for babies into the UK vaccination schedule, and we have been extensively involved in first in human trials of new vaccines to protect against the Ebola Virus and run internationally renowned Human Challenge Models of Enteric diseases such as Typhoid and Paratyphoid.

The role is essential in supporting the conduct of clinical trials of important new vaccines targeting viral and bacterial infections. The main responsibility will be for processing, archiving and testing of a wide variety of samples obtained from the clinical trials, particularly on immunisation against Pertussis and new Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccines, and also Human Typhoid Challenge studies.  There will be opportunities to work across projects, supporting the research of post-doctoral scientists, DPhil and MSc students, leading to experience in many different techniques whilst obtaining extensive training in working to Good Clinical and Laboratory Practice standards. You will be working in both Containment Level 2 and 3 laboratories.

The post is full-time for 1 year in the first instance. There will be a requirement to have flexible working hours and availability on evenings and weekends.
