Applications are sought for a post-doctoral research assistant funded by a British Heart Foundation Programme grant and will be based in the groups of Professor David Kelsell in the Centre for Cutaneous Research within the Blizard Institute and Professor Andy Tinker in the William Harvey Heart Centre at Barts and the London Medical School. Arrhythmogenic cardiomyopathy (AC) is a hereditary disorder of the cardiac muscle characterised by ventricular arrhythmias, cardiac failure and sudden cardiac death. This proposal will exploit new insights into AC which can also manifest with hyper proliferative skin disease. Studies will utilise patient material, and murine models to dissect the function of the desmosome and the associated pathways/molecules to investigate ARVC disease mechanisms.
The post holder must have a PhD in the area of biological sciences. Essential requirements for this post include experience of working in a biomedical research laboratory as well as experience in cardiovascular cell biology and molecular biology. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.
The post is full time for 12 months. Starting salary will be in the range of £32956 - £38709 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
