Postdoctoral Researcher - p53 in Infection and Cancer

We are seeking a motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to work on the target selectivity of p53. The p53 is a sequence specific transcription factor with a plethora of genomic targets. Reporting to Professor Xin Lu, you will use a wide range of molecular and cellular biology techniques, including confocal microscopy.

The main responsibilities are to understand the molecular mechanisms of tumour suppression with an aim of developing new strategies that can be used for the diagnosis of or therapeutic intervention against human cancer.

As a Postdoctoral Research Scientist, you will provide guidance to less experienced members of the research group, such as PhD and project students.

You will hold a PhD/DPhil (or be near completion) and have a first author publication record in an international peer-reviewed journal. You will be able to manage your own academic research and associated activities and possess excellent communication skills.

A detailed knowledge of tumour suppressors and transcription factor selectivity would be desirable.
