Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in ICT - Machine Learning in eCoaching

The University of Agder invites applications for a full-time, fixed-term position as a Post-Doctoral fellow in Technology/Information and Communication Technology for a period of 2 years. The position is currently located in Grimstad, Norway. The starting date is from September 2018 or to be negotiated with the Faculty.

The open position is established in association between Centre for eHealth and Care Technology (eHealth), Centre for Integrated Emergency Management (CIEM) and Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research (CAIR). The candidate will develop and test novel solutions for artificial intelligence supported health responses, targeting new challenging systems as a personal virtual coach or an avatar on the patient’s smartphone, which can give important medical advice in cases needed. Examples include automatically providing advice about activity, medication and other relevant factors to improve quality of life.

The research fellow position is intended to develop and test novel approaches for addressing issues related to artificial intelligence supported health monitoring.

Research topics:

Research topics for the postdoctoral fellow include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) for health diagnostics, planning, and forecasting;
  • Classification and Multisensory Pattern Recognition, including classification sensor data, video, sound as well as data from everyday equipment;
  • Convolutional and Recurrent Neural Networks, and Deep Learning for multisensory pattern recognition;
  • Smart devices, including wearable sensors, smart glasses, smartphones, etc.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the following areas:

  • Classification of time series particularly with Recurrent Neural Networks;
  • Feed Forward Neural Networks including Convolutional Neural Networks;
  • Machine Learning solutions with real patient data;
  • Multisensory Pattern Recognition;
  • Smart device and smartphone development.

The successful applicant should hold a PhD in ICT with proven competence in machine learning. To be considered for the position, the applicant must have an approved PhD thesis by the closing date of the announcement.
