Postdoc Position in Hematology - Yale University : New Haven, CT, United States

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative postdoctoral associate to work in the Halene Lab in the Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Yale University School of Medicine. The Yale School of Medicine is one of the world’s premier institutions committed to cutting-edge research and outstanding educational programs. The Yale Comprehensive Cancer Center is committed to exceptional patient care. Applicants with a PhD degree seeking to establish their career in hematopoietic stem cell biology with application to Myelodysplasia and Leukemia should apply. Expertise in stem cell biology, hematopoiesis, leukemia, RNA-related techniques is preferred. A strong background in molecular biology is required. Experience with in vivo mouse work is advantageous.
MDS and Leukemia affect over 20,000 patients every year in the US. Mutations in splicing factors and alternative splicing are common in hematopoietic cancers. Alternative splicing and modulation of RNAprocessing play an essential role in MDS/leukemia and normal hematopoiesis. Dr. Halene directs the Hematology Tissue Bank and the Halene Lab is closely aligned with the clinical work in Hematology. The Halene lab is working to identify critical pathways related to splicing and RNA processing in both normal hematopoietic and leukemic stem cells. We study primary human MDS/AML and bone marrow failure in humanized mice with the goal to develop novel therapeutic approaches.
Broad research areas include:
- Determination of RNA regulators of hematopoietic stem cell maintenance and differentiation and their role in MDS/AML.
- Study of MDS and Leukemia biology in humanized mice.
- Development of novel therapeutics for MDS/AML.
- Study of inherited bone marrow failure and progression to MDS/AML.
Application Requirements:
Applicants should include curriculum vitae, a description of past research experience and accomplishments, a summary of current and future research interests, expected availability date, selected reprints of publications, and three references. Please include “ Postdoctoral Position April 2018” in the subject line of the application. Applications should be sent to stephanie.halene@yale.edu.
