Post-Doctoral Research Associate

The research laboratory of Dr. Monica Kraft is seeking a postdoctoral candidate for the Department of Medicine at the University of Arizona.  Dr. Kraft is a leading authority on pulmonary medicine, and her lab’s research is composed of both basic science and translational studies with specific expertise in the field of allergic airway disease and asthma.  The lab has several ongoing studies with particular interest in the following areas:

1. IL-13 derived mechanisms that result in airway remodeling through dysfunctional regulation and deposition of matrix proteins.
2. Genetic variants of surfactant protein A and associated immunomodulatory effects on airway epithelial cell inflammation.
3. The effects of reduced CC16 expression on mucin production, airway inflammation, and lung architecture

The selected candidate will preferably have experience in the field of pulmonary research and have a strong repertoire of laboratory skills with special emphasis on molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, and mouse model techniques.  A combination of patient-derived human cells and allergic mouse models are employed for the studies and competency in both areas is preferred.
