摘要:

At Aarhus University, Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Engineering is inviting applications for a 2-year vacancy as postdoctorial researcher in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in Biological Production. The scientific work relates mainly to the project EU project Internet of Farms and Foods (IoF2020) that deals with the question of innovative, fail-safe communication and internet of moving things for farm management and is associated with the AU Center for Smart Farming.

Precision Farming and Smart Farming involve areas like data acquisition, data conversion, data wireless retrieval and reliable communication for streaming and logging data from agricultural vehicles, and structuring of information as the basis for process management and process documentation in agricultural production systems. Key technologies comprise Internet of Things, Cloud computing, semantic web services, ontologies, etc.

The position is available from 15th April 2018 or as soon as possible hereafter.

Work description

Research areas include:

  • Implementation of relevant smart communication systems (online versus logging, direct communication or mesh networking) and processing technologies
  • Development IoT systems for moving things in an agricultural context
  • Realtime logging, timestamping and georeferencing
  • Wireless communication protocols/software protocols (e.g. ISOBUS, Nmea2000)
  • Quality assessment/control of data, data-sources and data
  • International cooperation with other research groups/industry addressing coordination and acquisition of new research projects and funding

Qualifications

The following qualifications are particularly important:

  • Natural science or technical education (e.g. specialisation in electrical engineering or computer science) with research experience and competences within communication technology, programming software, etc.
  • Scientific training (PhD or similar), PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar
  • Strong background in wireless networks and modelling
  • Ability and interest in the application of system architecture
  • Ability and interest in teamwork and interdisciplinary cooperation. Knowledge on biological production is a plus.
  • Ability to disseminate research results to research environments, society and industry.

The department
The Department of Engineering at Aarhus University involves 4 sections including within each section a number of research groups. The Operations Management group of the Dept. of Engineering embraces the overall concept of systems engineering involving research, development and implementation of planning, control and application technologies for the precision treatment of plants and other production entities as well as efficient data collection and documentation methods for the production traceability. There is research into new production principles concerning the application of mathematical/physical models, decision support systems for operations and task management, design and implementation of information technology and communication and other innovative technologies.

Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary, – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation.
