摘要:

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr Bart Vandekerckhove, Ghent University, Gent, Belgium.

The position is available for 3 years, starting as soon as possible.

The research project focusses on a human innate T cell population which we recently described in human thymus, cord blood and liver tissues (Verstichel G.et al. Science Immunology 2017 Feb 24;2(8). pii: eaah4232. doi: 10.1126/sciimmunol.aah4232).

This large project involves several aspects:

• Elucidation of the thymic selection pathway leading to this innate population. Study of the branching point of innate and conventional T cell pathways using ex vivo single cell transcriptomics and in vitro GOF and LOF studies.
• Functional characterization and V(D)J profiling of the cell population in various human tissues/diseases. Functional studies in humanized IL-15 transgenic NOG mice
• Identification of ligands for the T cell receptors expressed by this population using thymic cell populations, stressed cells and cells transgenic for the different HLA class I-like molecules.

The candidate preferably has a strong background in immunology as well as advanced skills in cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology and/or bioinformatics. The successful candidate will be assigned to one of the above projects based on matching interest and skills.

We offer a competitive salary and an academic working environment. The Medical Research Building 2 is situated on the UZ Gent campus and accommodates over 200 scientists focusing on different aspects of immunology.
