The Faculty of Science at the University of Auckland is the largest and most highly ranked science faculty in New Zealand. The Faculty of Science is ranked among the top 90 science faculties worldwide by the QS World University Rankings. The School of Psychology is the largest in New Zealand and has international research leaders across a wide range of research fields, including cognitive neuroscience and social, clinical, developmental, behavioural, and evolutionary psychology.
 
The New Zealand Attitudes and Values Study (NZAVS) is a 20-year longitudinal national study of social attitudes, personality and health outcomes. The NZAVS aims to track changes in various social psychological and health factors over a twenty-year period, from 2009 to 2029. The study aims to provide information about how the personality, attitudes and values of New Zealanders may be changing over time.
 
The primary purpose of this position to help manage data collection and publish research using NZAVS datasets.
 
You will have:
 
A PhD in social sciences or statistics
Analyzing time-series data, experience publishing in top journals in the social sciences, experience with Structural Equation Modeling and Multi-level Random Coefficient Modelling in large datasets.
Excellent working knowledge of Mplus and/or R (statistical software), advanced data management skills, advanced graphical presentation skills.
Preferred:
 
A PhD focusing on moral and/or health development over time, specifically development and change in traits such as generosity, gratitude, forgiveness, and/or in religious beliefs, health, and employment.
Experience with social network modelling. Experience conveying science to the government. Experience in community work and/or work with civic organizations.
A working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, Final Cut Pro and Logic for the production of materials for the public.
