The University of Luxembourg (UL) is looking for its Faculty of Science, Technology and Communication for outstanding candidates committed to excellence in research and teaching, open to interdisciplinary work, and helping to develop an emerging academic institution.

Call for applicants to the FNR ATTRACT scheme (M/F), internal submission mid-September

• full-time 5-year fixed-term contract after competitive recruitment following FNR rules of ATTRACT scheme, starting date: January to June 2019

Your Profile:

• PhD in Biology or a related discipline, not older than 8 years on 15.11.2017 (according to FNR rules), relevant experience as Post-Doc and team leader for consolidated level grants
• Strong record in Cancer – Neutrophil – Inflammation research or a related topic, documented by publications ; next to a background in Experimental Biology, a research area offering links to other research activities at the LSRU and UL (e.g. Imaging, Systems Biology) as well as experience in clinical collaborations is valued
• Successful acquisition of grants and research funding
• Experience in teaching and in supervising Master and PhD students

The University of Luxembourg is set in a multilingual context. Excellent knowledge of English is required, proficiency in French and/or German is highly appreciated.

Your Role:

• You will reinforce the activities of the Life Sciences Research Unit (LSRU), ideally in the area of Tumor Biology – Neutrophil – Inflammation. Collaborations with the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine as well as with the Luxembourg Institute of Health are encouraged. You will manage and expand an existing research team, and contribute to the newly established National Cancer Plan (www.plancancer.lu).
• You will take part in the teaching activities in the Bachelor in Life Sciences and in the Master in Integrated Systems Biology (a new track “Molecular Biomedicine” will be established). Moreover, you should contribute to the activities of the Doctoral programme in Systems and Molecular Biomedicine.
• You should be willing to participate in organizational tasks, e. g. the development and coordination of the study programs
