Job Description
Position SummaryThe Pancreatic Cancer Research Laboratory led by Dr. Haiyong Han at the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen) is currently seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow interested in studying pancreatic cancer using zebrafish models. Our lab aims to develop novel targeted therapies for pancreatic cancer. We utilize animal models including zebrafish models to identify and validate novel therapeutics and to understand their mechanisms of action. By closely working with clinicians at TGen's Clinical Services, we seek to rapidly translate laboratory findings to the clinic. Promising therapies are promptly evaluated in pilot clinical trials. Conversely, hypotheses generated by clinicians based on clinical observations are readily tested in the laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general direction, the scholar will be responsible for designing and implementing research studies, collecting and analyzing data, writing progress reports and presenting research findings in lab meetings.
Prepares research results for publication and assists in the preparation of grant proposals.
Presents research at national meetings.
Mentors junior level team members.
Coordinates with other research groups and institutions on collaborative research studies.
Education and Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D. (completed or near completion) in Molecular Biology or related field is desired.
Prior research experience or training in working with zebrafish models is preferred.
Proven track record of creativity and established track record of publishing in peer-reviewed journals.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
