Postdoctoral Positions: Cellular/Molecular Biology of Myelination and Pathogenesis of Neurological Disability in Multiple Sclerosis : Cleveland, OH, United States

Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the Department of Neurosciences at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner Research Institute. The successful candidate(s) will work for Professor and Department Chairman Bruce Trapp on a comprehensive NIH R35-funded research program. Areas of interest include 1) investigating how demyelination affects neuronal gene expression, neuronal synaptic function, and neuronal survival; 2) investigating whether demyelination and neuronal degeneration can be independent events in multiple sclerosis (MS); and 3) establishing the dynamics and mechanisms of demyelination in the cerebral cortex by investigating MS brains and mouse models of demyelination. The successful candidate(s) will help lead a multidisciplinary approach that will correlate behavioral, electrophysiological, molecular, morphological, and in vivo imaging changes. A Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a relevant discipline and a background in neuroscience are required.
