Job Description
The Cancer Ecology and Evolution group led by Dr. David Basanta at the Integrated Mathematical Oncology department of the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL, is looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the team. The Moffitt Cancer Center is one of the leading cancer centers in the nation and the only NCI-designated center in Florida, making it a unique place in which to develop blackboard-to-bedside treatments.
Our group has been recently awarded an NCI grant to study the ecosystem of metastatic cancer in the bone so the prospective candidate should hold a PhD in a relevant field (mathematics, physics, computer science...) and have a very strong interest in cancer. We collaborate very closely with the lab led by Dr. Conor Lynch in the tumor biology department so the work we produce is highly integrative and requires the ability to communicate with experimentalist on a daily basis.
The Department of Integrated Mathematical Oncology (IMO) consists of 7 internationally renowned cancer researchers and mathematical modelers. The focus of all IMO research groups is to apply physical, mathematical and mechanical principles to cancer biology to decipher first order principles of tumor growth that can be exploited for novel cancer treatments. Moffitt Cancer Center and Research Institute, in Tampa, is Florida's largest cancer center, located on the campus of the University of South Florida, near beautiful beaches in the Gulf of Mexico.
