The laboratory of Dr. Michael B. Mann seeks a highly motivated, independent, and collaborative postdoctoral research fellow interested in conducting exciting inter-disciplinary research aimed at discovering and functionally testing the genetic and epigenetic drivers of skin cancer initiation, progression, and therapeutic resistance.

We seek an individual with a recent doctoral degree (completed within the last 3 years) in cancer biology, molecular biology, genetics, or related discipline and a strong publication record. Applicants should be able to demonstrate understanding and practice of fundamental research methodologies, including how to plan and conduct experiments and evaluate and report research findings. Experience in basic molecular biology techniques, including cloning, PCR, nucleic acid and protein extraction and manipulation, culturing mammalian cell lines is preferred. Exceptional candidates will also have experience building libraries for next generation sequencing and/or working with translational rodent models of human disease. Applicants are expected to have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office software, including Powerpoint and Excel, and a willingness to learn and become proficient in the use of biomedical research-oriented computer language(s) and database(s).

Successful candidates must be dedicated to full-time research and possess excellent organizational skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills. Trainees will develop experimental expertise in molecular oncology, cancer genomics, and preclinical animal modeling and will be mentored in project management, experimental design, and scientific communication. Trainees will have opportunities to work with an interdisciplinary core team comprised of cancer geneticists, computational biologists, and biostatisticians, and to collaborate with clinical partners to develop and test translational application(s) of research findings.
