摘要:

Postdoctoral opportunity: The role of apical efflux transporters as key determinant of drug secretion in the kidney studied in microphysiological systems

We're currently looking for talented scientists to join our innovative academic-style Postdoc. From our centre in Cambridge, UK, you'll be in a global pharmaceutical environment, contributing to live projects right from the start. You'll take part in a comprehensive training programme, including a focus on drug discovery and development, given access to our existing Postdoctoral research, and encouraged to pursue your own independent research in cutting edge laboratories. It's a newly expanding programme spanning a range of therapeutic areas across a wide range of disciplines.

What's more, you'll have the support of a leading academic advisor, who'll provide you with the guidance and knowledge you need to develop your career. This is an exciting area that hasn't been explored to its full potential, making this an opportunity to make a real difference to the future of medical science.

This Postdoctoral role offers an excellent opportunity to:

  • Conduct innovative research using cutting edge 3D cell culture technologies which will impact on drug project programs in both the discovery and development arena
  • Provide input into defining and delivering significant DMPK related strategies and capabilities
  • Establish innovative 3D in vitro models of the kidney to reveal drug transporters fundamental in renal excretion
  • Present breaking science at key conferences as well as publish your work in high-impact journals thereby promoting your scientific career
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external experts in many different scientific (eg pharmacokinetics) and technical (eg cellular and molecular biology) areas

Essential qualifications/education/experience

  • PhD, and preferably relevant post-doctoral experience, with background in ADME and transporter sciences
  • Practical experience in cell biology and successful development of complex in vitro ADME models and subsequent assay optimisation and application
  • Track record in driving innovative science demonstrated by publications in high quality journals
  • Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

Desirable:

  • Experience with advanced 3D cell culture methods e.g. microfluidic systems or organs-on-a-chip
  • Knowledge of drug transporters and their role in drug disposition and drug drug interactions
  • Competence in bioanalytical methods, e.g. LC-MS
  • Knowledge of physiological based pharmacokinetic modelling
  • Experience with techniques for modulating the expression or activity of target proteins, using pharmacological tool compounds, siRNA, CRISPR/Cas9 and virus-mediated transduction

Skills and capabilities required:

  • Establish in vitro microphysiological systems of the kidney to study drug transporter proteins
  • Develop experimental systems to describe and quantify drug transport in vitro
  • Apply innovative molecular biology techniques (e.g. CRISPR) to reveal key transporters involved in drug transport in the kidney
  • Utilise scaling or mathematical modelling approaches to establish in vitro in vivocorrelations
  • Communicate to a high standard internally and externally and deliver publications in peer-reviewed journals
