Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher (PhD) or an Associate Researcher to perform independent research associated with assessment of synaptic function and transmission, synaptic vesicle biology, neurophysiology, and brain circuit structure-function analysis. The primary focus of our research is to elucidate cellular and molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration and to develop small molecules for translational research. The ideal candidate will have experience with neurophysiology and electrophysiology and be able to perform patch for pre- and post-synaptic transmission, long-term potentiation in vitro and in vivo animal model, and brain circuit analysis.
The KU School of Pharmacy is located in the heart of beautiful and historic Lawrence, Kansas. The campus offers an excellent working environment, and has been consistently ranked nationally among the top 5 in NIH funding since 2001 . Moreover, the KU Alzheimer's Disease Center (ADC), one of only 31 NIA-designated and funded ADCs in the US, provides additional substantial resources for the pursuit of excellence in AD research and care . KU provides an enriched scientific research environment and core facilities including NMR, Protein structure, LC-Mass spectrometry, genome core, high-throughput core etc.
Initial appointment is for one year, the renewal for additional years are based on candidate’s productivity. |
