We are seeking Postdoctoral Appointees to become part of the NM Stockpile System Engineering team (02221, 02222, 02223, 02224, 02225). We are responsible for supporting the nation's nuclear weapons stockpile -- partnering with other Sandia organizations to design innovative surveillance approaches for our high-priority component and material evaluation efforts, develop multimillion dollar instrumented flight test units, and provide design agency engineering support for production. We also support technical studies supporting nuclear safety and other special topics, and conduct testing and analysis of stockpile weapons systems/component performance. Important external interfaces include our National Nuclear Security Administration customers, DoD customers, Los Alamos National Laboratory, DoD contractors, Kansas City National Security Campus, and Pantex production plants. Some travel will be required to fulfill the duties of this position. Since there are several openings within the 2220 group, candidates may be placed in any of the five departments within the group (2221, 2222, 2223, 2224, 2225). On any given day, you may be called on to: + Apply technical knowledge to determine experimental approach, design experiments in collaboration with colleagues, and analyze results + Create and present technical evaluations, white papers, and design approaches + Participate in high performing teams developing technically innovative solutions to challenging national security problems
