摘要:
The Institute of Sensor and Actuator Systems (ISAS) at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien) has available a postdoctoral position for 3 years, to work on a project on nanomechanical sensing. The estimated starting date is December 1, 2016

The project will be hosted in the Micro and Nanosensors Group (MNS). In MNS we conduct widely recognized research within a range of diverse topics such as nanomechanical mass spectrometry, nanomechanical absorption spectroscopy, optimization of high-Q nanomechanical resonators, and optomechanical transduction.

Responsibilities and tasks

The successful candidates will be part of a team dedicated to the design and fundamental study of novel hybrid nanomechanical-nanoplasmonic systems. Some of the tasks involved are:

experimental planning, design, microfabrication, and implementation,
theoretical and numerical simulation and analysis,
support of teaching activities,
and supervision of student projects.
Qualifications

The candidate should have a PhD degree (or equivalent) and a strong background in experimental micro- and nanomechanics (with additional experience in optomechanics or nanoplasmonics), and micro- and nanofabrication. Additionally, the candidate should have a proven track record in teaching and supervision of student projects.

We expect the successful candidate to be an independent, motivated, and diligent personality who with his/her own ideas can push the activities in our group forward. He/she should have very good communication and writing skills (in English), be able to work closely with other team members, and be a good mentor to younger students.

We offer

In the MNS group we perform fundamental studies on nanomechanical resonators and enhance their exceptional properties to build novel ultrasensitive sensors and transducers.

We are a young international research group. We have a friendly and dynamic research environment with close, daily interaction among all group members and strong collaborations with many international academic partners. Technical support is excellent with in-house state-of-the-art cleanroom facilities.

We are situated in the heart of Vienna at the city campus of TU Wien, one of the leading technical universities of Northern Europe, where we enjoy newly renovated office and lab space.

Salaries of the position are according to Austrian Collective Agreement for employees at universities, salary group B1, based on 40 hours per week, and a salary of currently EUR 50.269,80 per year.
