You will undertake molecular studies to identify the key membrane trafficking events in a network of five functionally related genes which all cause the debilitating congenital disorder, Charcot Marie Tooth Type 4 neuropathy. These genes all converge to regulate the membrane lipid phosphatidylinositol (3,5) bis phosphate (PIP2), a critical marker and regulator of membrane trafficking decisions in the cell. You will use a combination of optogenetics, differential mass spectrometry, cell biology, biochemical assays and light microscopy to identify key organelles and protein-protein interactions in models of peripheral myelination in cell culture. You should have a PhD in neuroscience or cell biology and have a developing track record in research. Attractive support packages will be available together with high quality laboratory research space. Candidates will be considered from the fields of biochemistry, molecular biology, microscopy and neurobiology. The post is available until 28 February 2019.
