摘要:

A postdoctoral position is available in the lab of Dr. Gareth Howell to study the role of neuroinflammation in aging and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Dr. Howell’s lab uses genetic and genomic approaches using mouse models to better understand particularly the early stages of disease as this provides the greatest opportunity for therapeutic intervention. A particular focus is on understanding the role of the complement cascade in aging (Soto et al, Plos Biology, in press) and AD.

The position is available because the Howell lab was recently awarded a multi PI R01 (in collaboration with Beth Stevens, Harvard) to critically test the role of complement factors in vascular dysfunction and synapse loss in aging and AD.

For more information about the work of the Howell lab, visit http://research.jax.org/faculty/gareth-howell.html.

The Jackson Laboratory (http://www.jax.org) in Bar Harbor, Maine, USA, offers a unique research and training environment characterized by scientific collaboration, unparalleled mouse resources, and outstanding core services within a spectacular setting adjacent to Acadia National Park.

Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent degree) in genetics or neuroscience or another similar discipline. Experience in molecular cloning and cell biology is strongly recommended, and applicants must have a commitment to solving biological problems and good communication skills. Preference will be given to self-motivated and career oriented individuals.

To apply, please submit a cover letter, a current CV, a statement of research interests with relevance to Dr. Howell’s lab, and the names of three references online at www.jax.org/careers/postdoc (select link for Bar Harbor, position #4447).

The Jackson Laboratory is an EOE/AA Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability or protected veteran status.
