Job Description
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position on the Research Team of Explora Biolabs, a San Diego-based biotech company, is open for recent PhD graduates with cancer research background. Our company’s goal is to create first-in-class contract preclinical research through innovative approaches. This position requires the candidate to be highly motivated and work independently in a high-pace multidisciplinary environment.
Education, Professional Skills & Experience:
1. Must have a PhD in oncology, immunology, pharmacology or related fields, with 0-2 years postdoctoral research experience.
2. Must have a general understanding of animal welfare regulations and importance of ethical use of animals in research.
3. Must have experience in handling rodents and in various routes of drug administration (oral, SC, IP, IM, IV), blood and tissue collection and grafting techniques. Small animal surgical skills are a plus.
4. Must be proficient in cell culture techniques. In vitro skills in PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry and cell-based assays are highly desirable.
5. Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to detail, and possess strong ability to organize, analyze, interpret and present data.
6. Strong computer skills and an understanding of statistics is required.
7. Should have strong written and verbal communication skills.
8. Should have strong problem-solving skills.
9. Should be familiar with lab equipment and capable of trouble-shooting problems.
10. Must be a team player, enthusiastic and flexible.
11. Having an understanding of chemical and radiation safety regulations is a plus.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities:
1. Work directly with animals inside a vivarium environment and independently perform animal studies.
2. Perform cell cultures; develop, optimize and perform in vitro assays.
3. Responsible for designing and execution of research projects in support of sponsored drug discovery projects.
4. Lead a small research team to coordinate and integrate research efforts across multiple projects. |
