The Amgen Postdoctoral program is committed to providing future scientists with an enriching environment to inspire innovation that will contribute to the development of human therapeutics. 

Dr. Mingyue Zhou in the Metabolic Disorders Research department at Amgen Inc. is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to study novel risk factors and pathological mechanisms underlying cardiovascular disease. The duration of the fellowship is 3 years. This position will evaluate and define the molecular, cellular and in vivo effects of a panel of sterol molecules that may lead to cardiomyopathy, atherosclerosis and myocardial infarction. The primary responsibility for this position is to establish the impact and address gaps in our current understanding of sterol molecules on the development of cardiovascular disease. The study may lead to the discovery of new disease etiology and identification of novel targets and pathways for the development of innovative therapies. This position will work independently as well as interact and collaborate with various working groups. In addition, it offers flexibility and independence in selecting the course of action and permits exploration of existing and emerging findings and new ideas. The role will publish scientific manuscripts regarding the discoveries of biology and its applications.

Basic Qualifications
PhD at the time of appointment

Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Biology, Human Nutrition, or related field
Expertise in biochemistry, molecular and cell biology, metabolism, and cardiovascular biology
Prior experience in mouse handling and with histologic methods and cell culture
Excellent written and verbal communication
A strong work ethic with a high level of self-motivation and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
