Postdoctoral Researcher - Cancer Immunology : Gent, Belgium

The Cytokine Receptor Lab (CRL) is part of the VIB Medical Biotechnology Center and is located on the historical Rommelaere campus of Ghent University. The CRL is headed by Prof. Jan Tavernier and currently houses a team of 35 researchers.

The Cytokine Receptor Lab is developing AcTakines (Activity-on-Target cytokines) that allow specific targeting of cytokine activity to selected cell types. This approach eliminates the systemic toxicity that has hampered the clinical use of many cytokines, including type I interferons, tumor necrosis factor and interleukin-1. Having obtained substantial (inter)national funding, we are currently applying this novel immunotherapy strategy in several preclinical murine cancer models. In support of this, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in cancer immunology.

Profile

• You have a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Biotechnology, Bio-engineering or Veterinary Sciences.
• Experience in vivo(mice) is required, as well as a Felasa C certificate to work with animals. Experience with murine tumor models is an asset.
• Experience in cell-biological techniques and immuno-assays (eukaryotic tissue culture and cell-based assays, cell sorting, ELISA, etc.) is required.
• You are familiar with various biotechnology techniques (molecular cloning, mutational analyses, Western blotting, etc.)
• You have a strong publication record and take pride in delivering high-quality work.
• You are meticulous, well organized and responsible.
• You are enthusiastic, ambitious and a team player.
• You have excellent English writing and reporting skills.
