Salary: £33,860 – £37,520 p.a.

We are seeking a Research Associate with an interest in leukaemia biology and in particular, DNA damage and its repair in normal and malignant B lymphocytes. The post-holder will join a team of scientists with a focus on the analysis of DNA damage during induction and progression of leukaemia.

The successful candidate will need to perform basic methods of molecular biology including viral transduction, cell culture, Western blot and qPCR, and further analyse cells by deep sequencing using ChIP-Seq, RNA-Seq and Exome sequencing. Functional studies will include experimental models and work with patient derived leukaemia samples and the investigation into mechanisms of genome maintenance in B lymphocytes using experimental models. The post holder will be expected to help co-ordinate the multidisciplinary effort on this project and work towards developing an independent programme of research.

Applicants must demonstrate that they meet the essential requirements of the post, and in particular, hold a PhD or equivalent qualification in a science related or allied field. It is essential that applicants are knowledgeable in leukemia biology, DNA damage and its repair, immunology, and haematopoietic malignancies. Applicants must possess practical experience in a broad range of techniques and a sound knowledge of, or experience with, different computer programs used for data analysis/processing e.g. Excel,PRISM, FlowJo, Snapgene/MacVector.

This full time post is available immediately for a fixed term of 12 months in the first instance. The post holder will be based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus, East Acton.
