Postdoctoral Positions : Chicago, IL, United States

Title: Postdoctoral Positions
Institution: The University of Chicago
Location: Chicago, IL
PI: Cathryn Nagler, Ph.D.

Post-doctoral positions are available in the Nagler laboratory at the University of Chicago. We have described cellular and molecular interactions by which commensal gut bacteria prevent sensitization to food allergens in a recent report (Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 2014,111:13145-13150). The development of novel microbiome-modulating therapies to prevent or treat food allergy is our ultimate goal. Our first translational study provides evidence for dysbiosis in infants with cow’s milk allergy (ISME J., 2015, in press) and has enabled us to create pre-clinical “humanized” gnotobiotic models suitable for the evaluation of candidate biotherapeutics. We are part of a well-funded, multi-disciplinary team exploring how the commensal microbiome regulates complex immune-mediated diseases. Ready access to outstanding institutional core facilities for gnotobiotic mice and next-generation sequencing provides critical support for these studies.
We are looking for highly motivated, creative, candidates with a recent Ph.D in immunology or microbiology and experience in murine models. Training in multi-color flow cytometry, fluorescent imaging, anaerobic cell culture and/or cellular immunology is a plus. A three-year commitment is required.
To apply: Qualified candidates should submit their CV, the names of three references, and a cover letter summarizing current and future research interests by email...

All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, age, protected veteran status or status as an individual with disability.
