摘要:

A postdoctoral position is available in the Lau laboratory in the Department of Molecular Oncology of the Division of Basic Sciences at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida.

Research Description
The overall interest of our laboratory is to investigate crucial signaling mechanisms that promote melanoma development, metastatic progression, and therapeutic resistance. We are particularly interested in post-translational modifications that regulate signal transduction. Based on our recent novel findings that altered cellular fucosylation (the modification of proteins by the sugar fucose) in melanoma drives malignant behavior and correlates with patient survival, our major focus is to investigate how fucosylation regulates cell autonomous and paracrine/stromal signal transduction mechanisms that govern the development, metastatic progression, and therapeutic resistance of melanoma (and potentially of other cancers).

Requirements
We are seeking a talented, highly motivated, and collaborative individual with a recent Ph.D. (< 3 years) in biological sciences or equivalent and a strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals. Ideal candidates are amicable and work effectively and efficiently both individually, as well as in a team atmosphere. He/she should be detail-oriented, creative, and excited to explore novel, previously unexplored directions. Projects in our laboratory include mammalian cell culture, a diverse range of biochemical and cell biological assays, live- and fixed-cell microscopy, qRT-PCR, RNA interference, flow cytometry, mass spectrometry, and small animal modeling. Postdoctoral trainees will be thoroughly mentored in scientific presentation and writing/editorial skills and required to apply for internal and external funding opportunities after hire, as feasible based upon project progress.

Individuals with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology and biochemistry are encouraged to apply. A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered to the successful candidate. Along with submitting a formal application at www.moffitt.org/careers (requisition #16475), interested candidates should send a single PDF file that includes his/her CV, a statement of research accomplishments/interests/career goals (2 pages max), and 3 letters of references to Dr. Eric Lau
