Positions Available
Postdoctoral positions available at the Department of Neurology, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Two postdoctoral positions are immediately available in the Department of Neurology laboratories at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. We are looking for motivated individuals to work on NIH/NIND-funded projects on molecular mechanisms of ischemic or traumatic brain injury.
Research Projects: The laboratory uses state-of-the-art cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, morphology, imaging, behavior and transgenic animal approaches to study the molecular mechanisms and therapeutic strategies for cerebrovascular and neural dysfunction after ischemic stroke or traumatic brain injury. The candidate will participate in projects to determine the functional roles of non-coding RNAs and several transcription factors in the cerebrovascular endothelial pathophysiology following ischemic stroke or traumatic brain injury.
Qualifications: MD or Ph.D. or equivalent in neuroscience, molecular biology, or related fields. Experience in stroke or traumatic brain injury mouse/rat models, cell culture, molecular biological methods, histological and neurobehavioral technique is preferred. Strong interest in neurological disease research, English proficiency, and strong oral and written communication skills are expected. The ideal candidate must have a solid publication record and evidence of excellent skills in molecular and cellular neuroscience. Self-motivated candidates are encouraged to e-mail their resume, a letter starting their research interest, and contact information (e-mail addresses and phone numbers) of three references to the Center administrator. Applications should be sent as a single PDF email attachment.
