Post Doctoral Position in High Throughput Phage Display Screening
(Nanyang Technological University in cooperation with Imperial College London)

The Centre for Antimicrobial Bioengineering at the School of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), together with the Imperial College London Synthetic Biology Center, is seeking candidates to work as Post-Doctoral researchers investigating phage display of peptides/proteins/biomolecules for bacterial cell recognition.

The candidate will work in an integrated team of molecular biologists, microbiologists and chemists to design and synthesize new antimicrobial peptides that will inhibit Gram negative and Gram positive pathogens as well as Mycobacteria and fungal pathogens. The goal is to design and synthesize active drug compounds or peptides, that are non-toxic to mammalian cells, and that represent lead compounds for drug development.

Environment
The work will be conducted within the Centre for Antimicrobial Bioengineering (CAMB). The postdoctoral fellow will also spend substantial periods at MIT. CAMB has core expertise in peptide synthesis and structure-property activity studies. The peptide synthesis involves solid-phase synthesis.

Responsibilities
The candidate will work with PhD students as well as research staff to achieve the project goals
Will develop and execute experiments aimed at the synthesis and modification of antimicrobial polysaccharides.
Prepare technical reports for the program PIs and present data at regular group meetings
Draft research publications.
Assist with organization and management of the research team

Requirements
Familiar with phage display screening and molecular biology.
PhD in Molecular Biology, biochemistry, microbiology, protein engineering, and related discipline.
Mastered the techniques of phage display, molecular biology, cell culture, microscopy, cytotoxicity assays, live-cell imaging, immunostaining, protein purification, quantification, and detection, real-time PCR, proteomics, recombinant DNA technology, and experience with animals.
Strong track record of publication in related disciplines
Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
Good interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written, as well as organizational
