Postdoctoral studies in the Viral Hepatitis Group (Scholarship) : Stockholm, Sweden

The Department of Laboratory Medicine consists of 9 divisions and is active in many areas of Laboratory Medicine. The department is involved in advanced basic scientific, clinical and epidemiological research. The department is one of the largest departments of education at Karolinska Institutet.

Division

The research within the Viral Hepatitis Group is focused on characterizing human and murine immune responses to the hepatitis B, C and D viruses. The current position will participate in the development and testing of new RNA-based vaccines for viral hepatitis.

Duties

We are seeking a postdoctoral scientist to work with immunogenicity studies in mouse models and to develop new transgenic mouse models.

Entry requirements

Applicants should have a PhD in an area relevant for viral immunology. The applicant should have an extensive training in molecular biology and immunological techniques such as characterization of T cells by flow cytometry. Documented experience with animal experiments is needed. The applicant should be proficient in the English language.

Scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies may be awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher. Having received a salary or other remuneration from Karolinska Institutet during the past two years may be disqualifying.

One requirement for receiving a scholarship for postdoctoral studies is central registration as a postdoc.

Karolinska Institutet awards scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies. This educational scholarship, which is paid for a maximum of two years within four years after the receipt of a PhD or the equivalent, is tax-exempt.

The amount is set for twelve months at a time and is paid out on a monthly basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
