摘要:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in the laboratory of Dr. Matthias Altmeyer at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. The position is initially for one year with the possibility for extension.

Starting date: October 2015 or later.

Project Description: Our work aims at elucidating the mechanisms how cells protect their genome from attrition and instability. In addition to molecular and biochemical approaches, we combine multivariate quantitative high-content imaging of cell populations with targeted perturbations of cell functions through chemical and reverse genetics to identify factors involved in genome integrity maintenance and characterize their molecular functions.

Qualifications: Candidates should hold or expect to be awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in natural or biomedical sciences. Applicants should have a strong scientific track record with at least one publication as first author in a high quality, peer reviewed international research journal. Prior experience with mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques is required. A background in chromatin biology, genome stability maintenance, or DNA replication is of advantage, as is prior experience in experimental techniques to interrogate DNA and chromatin transactions (e.g. ChIP, iPOND). The successful candidate will have good communication and writing skills, a curiosity-driven attitude, a high level of motivation, and demonstrate enthusiasm, flexibility and independence.

Work environment: Our institute with its research focus on chromatin biology, signaling, epigenetic regulation, and DNA damage responses is integrated into the natural sciences campus of the University of Zurich, the biggest University in Switzerland and one of Europe`s leading research centers. On-site core facilities offer easy access to state-of-the-art technologies in genomics, transcriptomics, epigenomics, proteomics, and advanced imaging. The successful candidate will join a young and dynamic team of international researchers. A competitive salary at the junior postdoctoral level plus social benefits will be offered.
