Postdoc in Studying Molecular Interactions using Nanomechanical Sensors : Copenhagen, Denmark

DTU Nanotech conducts cross-disciplinary research where micro- and nanotechnology is applied to a wide range of scientific disciplines as well as applications. The Nanoprobes group is a large and highly multi-cultural group, with different research branches focusing on biosensing, drug delivery and environmental monitoring.

Responsibilities and tasks
The Nanoprobes group at DTU Nanotech wishes to employ a postdoctoral researcher for 3 years to work in a highly interdisciplinary project focusing on applying our developed nanomechanical sensors in studies of molecular interactions and drug discovery. The main tasks will be to identify and carry out relevant studies using sensor technologies such as quartz crystal microbalance, electrochemistry, agglutination assays, nanomechanical resonators and calorimetry. The work will be carried out in close collaboration with different research groups and, within the framework of the recently granted DNRF and Villum Center of Excellence –IDUN. The successful candidate will play a leading role in the molecular sensor activities in the Nanoprobes group, interacting with several members working in different disciplines, such as micro and nanofabrication, biochemistry, biology, sensing technologies, microfluidics, pharmacology and polymer science. The job involves co-supervision of Ph.D. and master students.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate holds a PhD in micro and nanotechnology/biosensing and has a general overview of how to functionalize and apply micro/nano sensors. A strong background in lab-chip technologies, surface functionalization, electrochemistry, biochemistry and analytical instrumentation is an advantage. Experience in designing and testing of microfabricated systems and cleanroom fabrication are also considered valuable assets. Furthermore, a strong interest in biosensing is required. We are looking for an independent researcher who works accurately and feels comfortable in a collaborative environment, and who is willing and qualified to take on a larger coordination role within molecular interaction studies using micro/nano sensors.

Preference will be given to candidates with:
• Innovative skills, ability to generate new ideas and to implement them in the experimental field
• Independent problem solving skills
• Excellent communication and language skills
• Experience from international collaborative projects

We offer
We offer an interesting and challenging job in an international environment, with state-of-the-art facilities, and strong experimental as well as theoretical competences. The Nanoprobes group is an interdisciplinary and positive group with open-minded and supportive members.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.

The position is available as soon as possible.
