摘要:

We are looking for a postdoc scholarship holder in asymmetric cell division to Karolinska Institutet, department of Biosciences and Nutrition. The postdoc will be financed by a scholarship and the postdoc should conduct his/her postdoctoral studies.

Description of project and work
This postdoc project will be conducted in Victoria Menendez’s research team, with the organizational affiliation to Professor Karl Ekwall. We are a young, dynamic and stimulating team. We are interested in deciphering the molecular mechanisms of asymmetric cell division, which is a key process in development and tissue repair. We use budding yeast as experimental model because it offers the exciting possibility of combining genome-wide approaches with proteomics and advanced fluorescent microscopy. In this project, you will focus on new proteomic approaches to identify post-translational modifications that control protein inheritance during asymmetric cell division.

Duties
You will conduct your project under the supervision of Victoria Menendez Benito and in collaboration with a PhD student from the lab. There will be regular interaction with all the members and collaborators of the team. This position provides opportunity for growth and development as an independent investigator, as there will be possibilities for initiating new research directions and for participating in research proposal writing.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates that have:
• A Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biological Engineering or similar
• A strong background in cell and molecular biology
• Proven ability to work independently as well as a part of a team
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Good scientific track record, including at least one publication as first author in a peer reviewed international journal
• Prior experience with mass spectrometry and with the analysis of post-translational modifications will be considered as a merit.

Entry requirements
Scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies may be awarded to individuals who come from other countries with the intention of remaining in Sweden only while obtaining all or part of their education. The head of the department determines whether their previous training and scholarly qualifications correspond to a Swedish PhD or higher. Having received a salary or other remuneration from Karolinska Institutet during the past two years may be disqualifying.

One requirement for receiving a scholarship for postdoctoral studies is central registration as a postdoc.

Type of scholarship
Karolinska Institutet awards scholarships to pursue postdoctoral studies. This educational scholarship, which is paid for a maximum of two years within four years after the receipt of a PhD or the equivalent, is tax-exempt.

The amount is set for twelve months at a time and is paid out on a monthly basis. In exceptional cases, shorter periods may be acceptable.
