摘要:

AAA Data Science Postdoctoral researcher complex network theory large knowledge graphs : Amsterdam, Netherlands

AAA Data Science Postdoctoral researcher complex network theory large knowledge graphs. This advertisement concerns one of 14 positions. This postdoctoral researcher position is with Prof. Van Harmelen of the Department of Computer Science, VU and Prof. Adriaans of the Informatics Institute, UvA (group of Prof. Cees de Laat). Data science is a strategic direction for both the Informatics Institute of the UvA and the Department of Computer Science of the VU. The Web of Data, a collection of machine-interpretable facts on the Web, has become the largest knowledge base ever built. With thousands of datasets worldwide, and with billions of facts, it is the first knowledge base large enough to begin displaying complex system properties. Very little is known about the structure of this very large knowledge graph. What is the structure of this knowledge graph at different aggregation levels? What are the principles that govern the emergent structure of knowledge graphs? How can we measure the amount of knowledge encoded in a particular subgraph? This project will take a radical departure from classical logic-based knowledge representation, and will use insights from information theory and from the theory of complex networks to find answers to these questions.

Description

PhD in Computer Science or equivalent titles; excellent English writing and presentation skills; familiarity with either information theory or the theory of complex networks; willingness and ability to work in a team.
