A postdoctoral position is available at Stanford University for an NIH-funded project to uncover, dissect, and model the molecular mechanisms that regulate terminal cell differentiation. We are using adipocytes, or fat cells, as a model system to understand the regulatory circuit of cell differentiation, not only because of the immediate applicability of our findings to treating the current worldwide epidemic of adipocyte-related diseases such as diabetes, obesity, and cardiovascular disease, but also because adipocytes can be readily studied using powerful live-cell microscopy and quantitative mass spectrometry approaches. This project builds on work described in Park et al, (2012) Cell Reports Oct 25; 2(4):976-90 and Ahrends et al, (2014) Science Jun 20; 344:1384-9.
