Description

Our laboratory is a recently formed group (Emmy Noether Programme) that investigates the molecular mechanisms of learning and memory. The successful candidate will work on the elucidation of DNA methylation-dependent mechanisms in memory formation. The candidate should be highly motivated, must hold a recent Ph.D. as well as good interpersonal and communication skills. Fluency in English and the ability to work in a international environment is required. He/She should have a strong background in molecular and cell biology. Candidates with prior experience with chromatin immunoprecipitation and next generation sequence analysis are particularly encouraged to apply. Heidelberg region is a scientific hub that houses several internationally renowned research institutes. The University of Heidelberg is part of the Excellence Initiative and in this context several core facilities were created offering access to state-of-the-art technology to the research community. Our lab is part of the Interdisciplinary Center for Neuroscience (IZN) that includes several research groups committed to study Neuroscience at various levels. Employment, payment and social benefits are according to the Public Sector Collective Agreement (Tarifvertrag für den öffentlichen Dienst – TVöD).The position is for two and half years with the possibility of extending and is expected to start during Spring 2015.
