We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist (f/m) with a PhD in bioinformatics or related field, solid programming skills (e.g. developing sequence analysis tools), experience with the analysis of NGS data sets, understanding of lab methods and knowledge of genomics/transcriptomics.
 

Description

Extent of employment: 40 Hours per Week Duration of employment: limited until 31st of December 2015 Gross monthly salary and pay grade in terms of collective agreement for university staff: B1 lit. b, € 3.546,00 Responsibilities: The successful candidate (f/m) will pursue projects related to the interpretation of plant genome and transcriptome sequencing data from 2nd and 3rd generation sequencing platforms, and in particular will use Illumina and Nanopore sequencing data. The project will be embedded into the framework of "AnnoBeet", a research network dedicated to the interpretation of the genomes from wild and cultivated beets. Required skills and qualifications: We are looking for a postdoctoral Research associate (f/m) with a PhD in bioinformatics or related field, solid programming skills (e.g. developing sequence analysis tools), experience with the analysis of NGS data sets, understanding of lab methods and knowledge of genomics/transcriptomics. The group has successfully performed several projects using NGS technology. We have recently published the reference genome sequence of sugar beet (Dohm et al., Nature, 2014). The group currently participates in Oxford Nanopore's early access program, placing us at a strategic position for generating and analyzing such data ahead of commercialization of this novel technology. We are a multidisciplinary team and offer work in a lively and friendly atmosphere, and state-of-the-art computing infrastructure. We are looking forward to expanding our team by a dedicated and strongly motivated person with a distinct interest in the challenges of modern sequencing technologies and plant genomics.
