摘要:

Postdoctoral researcher In Computer Science : Amsterdam, Netherlands

The System and Network Engineering (SNE) research group has an open post doctoral position in computer science. The main mission of this research position is to develop semantic models for the quality of service and user experience in quality-critical Cloud applications, and the linking mechanisms between descriptions of infrastructures and applications. Users’ quality of experience potentially determines the business value of the real-time Cloud applications—however the attributes of Quality of Experience (QoE) are often not directly mapped onto the Quality of Service (QoS) requirements defined in the underlying infrastructure. For instance, user satisfaction with a streamed movie is dependent on the buffered time, which is not simply the latency or bandwidth of the network. This task focuses on modelling the QoE attributes and the mapping model between QoE and infrastructure QoS attributes. The candidate will work in the System and Network Engineering Group (SNE) at the Informatics Institute, University of Amsterdam. The SNE group offers a high-level research environment for advanced network and Cloud subjects. The selected candidate will work on semantic models for mapping between the quality attributes of service and user experience of quality-critical applications, and optimization algorithms for quality-critical applications in Clouds.

Description

The candidate should be experienced in programming (using Java or other languages), and should have a considerable experience at the PhD level in Computer Science and be familiar with developing distributed software, Semantic web technologies (e.g. ontologies, semantic reasoning) and optimization methods (e.g., multi-objective optimization). The candidate should be fluent in English.

Benefits

Starting Date: 1 May 2015 The appointment will be full-time (38 hours a week) on a temporary basis for the period of two years. The gross monthly salary will be in accordance with the university regulations for academic personnel, and will range from €2,476 to €3,908 (salary scale 10) based on a full-time appointment depending on qualifications, expertise and on the number of years of professional experience. The Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities is applicable. There are also secondary benefits, such as 8% holiday allowance per year and the end of year allowance of 8.3 %. English is the working language within the Informatics Institute. Moreover, since Amsterdam is a very international city where almost everybody speaks and understands English, candidates need not be afraid of the language barrier. Some of the things we have to offer: very friendly, interactive and international working environment; high level of multidisciplinary research; new building located near the city center (20 minutes by bicycle) of one of Europe's most beautiful and lively cities; access to high-end computing facilities (e.g., cluster with 4,000+ cores).2476 - 3908
