£25,747 – £31,632 p.a.
Huddersfield
Fixed term for 3 years, full-time
Ref: R1642

We are looking to appoint two Postdoctoral Research Assistants to work in the Translational Catalysis centre led by Professor Joe Sweeney. The projects will involve the analysis, design and implementation of sustainable catalytic processes to deliver both industry-relevant reactions and novel chemical commodities. You will work as part of the Sweeney research group (currently 9 members) and a collaborative team including UK and global industry partners, including GSK, Pfizer, Merck and Peakdale Molecular.

Located at Huddersfield, you will work in a new £1M synthetic laboratory, supported by class-leading analytical facilities including the state-of-the-art Brüker X-ray crystallography suite, TEM and SEM equipment, an Agilent centre of excellence for mass spectrometry and high-level NMR facilities. In addition to the daily execution of experimental chemistry, the post will also involve participation in regular project team meetings (both virtual and face-to-face), at which you will interact with and make presentations to the consortium members. It is vital that you possess not only superb experimental and analytical skills, but also top-level personal skills (including excellent self-motivational and time-management abilities).

Joining a superbly equipped, well-funded Department, you will be a highly motivated and creative organic chemist, possessing excellent practical skills in synthesis, with experience of using catalytic reactions and a thorough knowledge of modern synthetic methodology. You should either already have a PhD in Chemistry, or have submitted your thesis prior to taking up the post.

These are full-time positions however we are happy to consider applications on a full or part-time basis to fill the roles.
