Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant funded by Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. The research will be based in the group of Dr Melania Capasso, Centre for Cancer and Inflammation, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London in the Charterhouse Square Campus.

The postholder will join a team investigating the role of the voltage-gated proton channel HVCN1 in Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL) and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL). The successful applicant will be involved in characterizing HVCN1 in tumour growth and survival of NHL and CLL using lentiviral-based shRNA strategies and a transgenic model of CLL. For background information on HVCN1 in B lymphocytes and CLL please see Capasso et al., Nat Immunol, 2010 and Hondares et al., PNAS, 2014.

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Research laboratory experience in cell biology is essential. Experience in the field of haematological cancers and appropriate publication records would be an advantage, as well as experience with mouse models. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is a full time, fixed-term position for 18 months in the first instance, however there is a possibility for further extension subject to funding. Starting salary will be £ 31,735 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. The Barts Cancer Institute requires that applicants invited for interview will need to provide all certificates to confirm their qualifications (specified in the Job Profile).

Candidates must be able to demonstrate their eligibility to work in the UK in accordance with the Immigration, Asylum and Nationality Act 2006.
