摘要:

Postdoctoral Fellow : Charlotte, NC, United States

A postdoctoral fellow position is available now in the Yan laboratory in the Department of Biological Sciences in the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Responsibilities:
UNC Charlotte is North Carolina's urban research university. Located in the state's largest metropolitan area, UNC Charlotte is among the fastest growing universities in the UNC System. Our research interests focus on the molecular mechanisms of genomic integrity maintenance and tumorigenesis using Xenopus egg extract and human cell lines. A better understanding of cellular response to DNA replication stress and oxidative stress may provide novel avenues of treating human diseases, such as cancer and neurodegenerative disorders (Yan and Michael, J Cell Biol, 2009; Van, et al., J Cell Biol, 2010; Willis, et al., PNAS, 2013; Yan, et al., Cell Mol Life Sci, 2014; Richardson, et al., Int J Mol Sci, 2015). The principal research responsibility for this position is to investigate the molecular mechanisms of cellular responses to DNA damage. The employee will work on research projects funded by federal funding agencies. The employee will share student mentoring with Dr. Yan and will participate professional activities as appropriate.

Requirements for this position:
1) A PhD degree in any fields of biological or biomedical sciences (or to be awarded a PhD degree by the summer of 2015).
2) Preferences will be given to the candidates with expertise in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Cell Biology. Research experience in the field of DNA damage and repair, cell cycle and genomic instability will be a plus, but not necessary.
3) The successful candidate requires one or more first-author research articles.
4) The successful candidate is expected to be a highly self-motivated, well organized, and independent scholar in a collaborative research team.
5) Excellent problem solving skills are needed, and outstanding oral and written communication skills will be preferred.
