The Grumbach lab is looking for one or two productive and motivated postdoctoral fellows.

The successful candidate will be involved in studying the function of the calcium and calmodulin-dependent kinase II and related kinases in vascular disease. Current projects focus on reductive stress, mitochondrial function and ER stress in vascular disease.  He/she will have access to in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo research models, as well as various research techniques and advanced equipment.  The successful candidate is expected to qualify for training grants and fellowships.

 

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be a recent PhD and should have a strong background in either vascular pharmacology/physiology or molecular biology and genetic models of vascular diseases and will be given the opportunity to acquire new skills during the fellowship. Experience in vivo models of vascular diseases, molecular cloning, micro-dissection, cell culture, bioinformatics, histology/immunohistochemistry is desirable. A MD with research experience and strong commitment to scientific endeavor will also be considered for the position.

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Working as a leader as well as part of one or more project teams, and remain proficient in designing, managing and performing experiments.
  • Collecting and analysing data, and deliver experimental research reports when necessary with guidance from the PIs for collaborative research projects
  • With guidance from the PI to produce scientific manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and to present research data in house and in scientific conferences.
  • Writing as well as assisting in the preparation of applications for external grants for research and fellowships.
  • Assist in general lab organization and maintenance, supply ordering and liaising with infrastructure departments.
