Postdoc position in biomedical ultrasound imaging & microscopy

Job Description

Description: A postdoctoral research position is open for applicants with experimental research experience in ultrasound technologies to develop novel imaging and microscopy techniques for tissue imaging and microscopy. Candidates will be considered for a broad range of projects including integration of ultrasound backscatter microscopy with optical diagnostic techniques for multimodal non-destructive evaluation of engineered tissues and development of intravascular catheter systems. The successful candidates will work on National Institutes of Health (NIH) and California Institute of Regenerative Medicine (CIRM) funded multidisciplinary projects focused on research and engineering of multimodal imaging and spectroscopic devices for biomedical diagnostics. This is an opportunity to work in the Biophotonics Laboratory (http://bme.ucdavis.edu/marculab/) at the University of California Davis (Department of Biomedical Engineering) and in collaboration with clinical departments within the UC Davis School of Medicine and industry partners. The initial appointment is for two years with potential for extension depending upon performance.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Applied Physics, Medical Physics or other closely related areas. In addition, they must have strong knowledge of ultrasound physics and signal processing and experience with high frequency ultrasound instrumentation/transducers, programming (C/C++, MATLAB), and software control of instrumentation. Experience with LabView programming, quantitative parametric analysis of ultrasound radiofrequency data, image processing, integration of ultrasound based-platforms with image-guided interventional systems, photoacoustic imaging, intravascular ultrasound, and clinical translation of imaging technologies is a plus. The candidate must have demonstrated the ability to perform experimental work and theoretical analysis, publish papers, and to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team. Interested applicants should submit via e-mail a complete curriculum vitae, the contact information for three references, and a copy of one or two publication from previous research to:
