Job Description
The Onboard Space Systems Group at the Department of Computer Science, Electrical and Space Engineering is looking for an Associate Senior Lecturer contributing to our growing activities. The group’s mandate is to provide research and education on systems for observation, instrumentation, communication and manipulation in the upper atmosphere, in space and on the planetary surfaces. Of particular interest are miniaturized, autonomous spacecraft and robot manipulators and their mechanical, electronic and processing modules. Some applications include, but are not limited to, nanosatellite design, free-flying robot manipulators, satellite formation flying, and satellite/robot teams for asteroid redirection and exploitation.
Subject Description
Onboard space systems include systems for control, observation, instrumentation, communication and manipulation in the upper atmosphere, in space and on the planetary surfaces. Of particular importance are reliable, radiation-resilient, low-power electronic, actuation and processing systems and their miniaturization.
Duties
The candidate will perform research with a substantial experimental component, and publish in peer-reviewed international journals and at major conferences. The position also includes teaching and co-supervision of M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and acquiring funding for Ph.D. and Postdoc projects from research funding agencies/councils, EU framework program and industry. As an Associate Senior Lecturer you work actively and with great responsibility. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to the continued building of our research group. The position is part of a special career program, which means that the candidate, after the initial two-year period and with outstanding performance, will be offered a skills assessment for more advanced work and permanent employment.
Qualifications
Persons are eligible to be appointed as Associate Senior Lecturer if they have been awarded a Doctorate in a relevant field, or have a foreign degree that is considered to be equivalent to a Doctorate.
As a rule, persons considered for the appointment must have been awarded their Doctorate no more than seven years before the end of the application period. Cases where a degree has been awarded more than seven years before may be acceptable if special grounds exist. Special grounds, in this context, mean absence due to illness, parental leave, clinical service, a commission of trust or similar circumstances.

The following criteria for assessment will be applied:
- Documented scientific qualification
- Other assessment criterias (weighted equally)
- Documented educational experience
- Documented experience of research and development in the academia and/or industry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
