The appointment will be full time on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £33,353 – £40,313 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.

The Bioinformatics Group in the Department of Computer Science invites applications for a BBSRC funded postdoctoral research associate position. The project entails taking lead software development responsibility in maintaining and further developing our suite of Web-based bioinformatics tools (namely the PSIPREDWorkbench). The main duties will be to build and document new software to improve the effectiveness of our existing server infrastructure, to add new features, to integrate and develop new software tools developed within the group, and to coordinate user support and training activities.

This post is funded for 5 years in the first instance.

Applicants should have (or very soon expect to have) a relevant PhD (e.g. in bioinformatics) and ideally at least one paper accepted in a refereed scientific journal, though candidates without a PhD may be considered if there is evidence of extensive directly relevant experience. Proven scientific software development and Web server development skills are essential. Fluency in both written and spoken English is essential. Familiarity with protein structure related bioinformatics software would be advantageous.
