Applications are invited from suitably qualified overseas students to take up new PhD studentship opportunities in the School of Law, Politics and Sociology at the University of Sussex. Scholarships are available from September 2015 for a period of three years and represent a fee reduction of  £5,000 (overseas) per student or a full fee waiver. The application deadline is 10th April.

Study Subject(s): Scholarship is available in any field of Gender Studies, Law, Politics and Contemporary European Studies and Sociology. The School is particularly keen to encourage applications in cross-disciplinary research areas and has initially highlighted the following priority fields of inquiry: social inclusion, health and citizenship, democracy and citizenship, global civil society, corruption and anti-corruption, migration and mobility, European integration, governance in the digital age, constitutional change, solidarity, security, and responsibilities and rights.

Eligibility: Postgraduate applicants would normally be expected to meet the following general entrance requirements:
-for research degrees (eg MPhil and PhD): normally an upper second-class undergraduate honours degree or other professional qualification or experience of equivalent standing. For research degrees in the arts or social sciences, normally also a Masters degree
-for taught degrees (eg MA or MSc): normally at least an upper second-class (or, in some subjects, a lower second-class) undergraduate honours degree or other professional qualification or experience of equivalent standing
-for both research and taught degrees: all nonnative English speakers will also need to provide evidence of suitable English language ability. English language requirements are listed with each course at Postgraduate study and a conversion chart can be found in English language requirements, below.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Overseas applicants are eligible to apply for this scholarship.

What does it cover? Scholarships (full or partial fee waivers) are available from September 2015 for a period of three years and represent a fee reduction of £5,000 (overseas) per student or a full fee waiver. The scholarship of a partial fee waiver is a reduction of fees, not a payment and students will need to be able to fund the fee difference and living expenses.  The scholarship of a full fee waiver does not cover living expenses.
